Introduction to Zen Meditation (In-Person & Online)
Sunday, December 14, 2025
10:00 am

The Temple offers Introduction to Zen Meditation twice a month. Although we welcome newcomers at all of our services, these bi-monthly classes provide a more thorough explanation of the principles of Zen Buddhism and the practice of Zazen. They include detailed instruction for sitting meditation as practiced by the Soto Zen sect and a lecture on the basic principles of Zen Buddhism and how they relate to zazen. We follow this with a shortened meditation service suitable for first timers consisting of two periods of sitting meditation separated by one period of walking meditation. Following the service we serve tea and encourage participants to ask questions about Zen Buddhism and how to apply the teachings to their lives.
