About the Temple
A brief history

The Zen Buddhist Temple of Chicago was founded in 1949 by Soyu Matsuoka Roshi. Originally located on Halsted Street on the north side of Chicago, the Temple moved to its current location in the 1980s. We also share space with the Chinese Cultural Academy, which offers classes in Tai Chi Chuan.

Services are held in Evanston, IL.

Our services and activities are held at: 608 Dempster Street in Evanston, Illinois. This is on the south side of Dempster Street, one-half block west of Chicago Avenue and one-half block east of the Dempster 'L' stop. Almost right across the street from Bagel Art.

The RTA Travel Information Center can help you find your way to the Temple via public transportation.
